Krokilio is a beautiful village with lush vegetation at an altitude of 840 meters. It is the birthplace of the hero Yannis Makriyiannis; every four years the famous 'Makriyiannia' festival takes place in his honor. Another notable destination is Artotina, considered to be the “capital” of the Vardousia Mountain range, overlooking a magnificent alpine landscape from an elevation of 1300 meters.
Thought  to be the birthplace of the famous hero of the revolution of 1821, and thus  bearing his name, the picturesque village of Athanasios Diakos is also a place worth visiting.
