The Castle of Salona is the most famous castle in Fokida. Combining elements of ancient, Roman-era, and Byzantine Greece. The most famous part of the castle is the Tower of the Queen, associated with the legend of a local princess who was killed. This castle, after a prolonged siege, was the first to pass into the hands of Greek rebels during the Revolution of 1821. The castle of Salona, as Amfissa was formerly named, completes the tour of the capital of Fokida.
